You look good enough to eat

The case was over and Tony was feeling back to his usual untouchable self. Sure, having all that attention on him had been a risk, but it worked out in the end. The hot young lawyer fighting for his side of the case had done a good job, and while Tony probably could have swayed the Jury if given a chance, it was risky to do it with that many people so publicly. It was just a good thing everything had ended up working out. Now he was waiting outside the firm where Steve worked. He did need to thank the helpful lawyer after all.

That and he wanted to play. He got bored too easily. Being rich and powerful both were blessings, no disguise necessary, but since he joined the ranks of the undead he was always having to be so much more careful.

It was a drag, really.

"Hey, McDeere. Hold up."

Tony was dressed up in a nice expensive suit and a pair of bright red shades, a grin above his well-trimmed beard as he caught up beside Steve on his way out.

"I need to buy you a drink."

It had been a couple weeks since the case ended. Tony had legal strings to tie up and loose ends to cut off before he had time to go looking for the lawyer, but now that he had tracked him back down he was all charming smiles and deceptively warm voice. He didn't believe in denying himself things he wanted, and Steve had been added to that list. Why shouldn't he have the things he wanted?

Just because one case ended didn't mean Steve suddenly had more free time. He was now busier than ever. With all the publicity this case got, he was actually busier than ever. Important people within the city wanted him as their lawyer, though he only accepted to take on a few people on a permanent basis. For one, he wanted to keep his schedule open enough to take on cases from all demographics. For another, with all those offers, he was able to choose who he felt comfortable serving.

Steve was a man with a strong moral code, after all. He wouldn't represent anyone who he considered corrupt.

He was surprised to see his former client waiting for him outside of the firm. Anthony Stark seemed like a busy man, after all. Surely he had better things to do than make this visit. Apparently, he was wrong. "Mr Stark. This is a surprise. But I feel like I should be the one buying you a drink." After all, he was the one who made this change of pace in Steve's career possible.

There wasn't much else that Steve had planned for the night. He was likely going to get a bowl of cereal for dinner and hit the hay if Bucky didn't invite himself over. Not that Steve ever minded; he enjoyed his neighbour's company, after all. Postponing his inevitably quiet evening with getting a drink wouldn't hurt anything. He didn't think it would take longer than half an hour anyway. That was enough time to catch the late night news before going to bed.

Apparently Stark was definitely insisting, and Steve hardly had it in him to decline. If it was anyone else, he likely would have. But considering how much he owed the other man, he could make an exception and stand to be social for a while.

Before he spoke, Steve reclaimed his hand. For some reason, it was off putting and he preferred this to not go anywhere weird. He intended for this to be professional. He shoved that hand in his pocket, and tightened his grip on his briefcase with the other.

"I can spare about half an hour. Where do you want to go?"

Most of the day had been spent behind a desk, which meant Steve's legs were stiff and he was in need of some exercise before he settled down for the night. He usually took care of that by getting off the metro a stop before the one near his apartment and taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

He could just as easily switch it up, and this meant he'd have company during. That would be a nice change.

"Let's walk. It'd be a shame to not take advantage of the weather."

Steve didn't wait for Tony to lead the way; he knew the direction they were supposed to be headed in, after all, so he simply started walking.
